Do compact fireplaces require alot of electricity?

at the moment there is no heat in my house, i cant afford to get it fixed so i was thinking of buying one of these fake fire places that heat up a room, but again i don'tt haveallott of money right now and idon'tt want my electric bill to sky rocket.
