What is the name of VY Canis Majoris?
I know this seems like a silly question but I have learned that Sirius, a star in the constellation Canis Majoris, is often reffered to as alpha Canis Majoris, so I was wondering if VY Canis Majoris has another name, a name along the lines of Sirius, or if it is simply VY?
